Where 'Off The Wall' Began...

In early 2021 we learnt a lot about 'Going Big or Going Home' on this monumental project (150 square meters!) in the Blake Street carpark in Rangiora. It was a labour of love that has seen a lot of blood sweat and tears but has ultimately been an absolute passion project. We love this mural!

This work - titled 'In Our Hands' - was part of a community project with NEST Arts Collective, the result of winning a Keep New Zealand Beautiful nature mural competition and supported by a Waimakariri Creative Communities grant. There were a lot of hiccups as we navigated the carpark, big scaffold equipment, temperamental weather and a shifting timeline. But positive comments and support from people passing by encouraged us and it has been so rewarding to hear from people who love the burst of colour in the community.

We believe murals, public artworks, visual messages and colour add so much to the texture and personality of a place. We really hope to bring more beautiful murals to our local spaces!

Giving to our kura community

Keep New Zealand Beautiful and Resene partner together to offer school communities the opportunity to brighten their spaces through their Wall Worthy competition. We have thoroughly enjoyed working with several kura in our Rangiora community, bringing their ideas to life and working with students. It has been rewarding to participate alongside students in creating fun works that definitely liven their learning spaces.

The Wall Worthy competition is an awesome opportunity to make adding a new professional mural painting to the school property more accessible and affordable.

Katie Riddell Gym, Rangiora

Getting Motivated

Katie wanted a graffiti style inspirational message for her home-based gym. She was fully renovating her garage and wanted the walls to go from drab conrete blocks to something fantastic. As she trained mostly female customers she wanted something appropriate without being too girly. We settled on a quote and design that was a lot of fun to create and right on brand for her personal training gym!

Gamer Heaven

Ten Forward, Rangiora

Let's Play!

When we met Ten Forward they were a brand new business looking for bold, fun and funky artwork for their walls. As a gaming center, that would offer afterschool activities and birthday party functions, we knew we obviously need to draw our inspiration from the games that kids would be playing in the space. For this commission we wanted to create an imersive experience. We evaluated the space and worked back and forth with Ten Forward to design how the mural could make maximum impact whilst staying within their budget for a new business. The results have been a hit with everyone that steps through the door.

We also put together the design for window decals that were on brand and worked well with the overall design of the location. We liaised with a local printer to deliver the designs which they intalled.

Shear Havoc

Kids Hairdresser

The amazing team at Shear Havoc work with the littlest clients but they had BIG ideas for how they would like their brand new salon extension to look. The brief was simple - exciting characters that kids love adorning the walls to create an inspirational space. We kept the palette within the range of the business brand colours and worked the different characters in and around the mirrors, shelves and chairs.

Cabinet Art

Chorus Commission

The Chorus Cabinet Art program is an awesome opportunity offered to artists, asking them to submit designs for revamping the many telecommunications cabinets across New Zealand. Once a year a selection of cabinets are made available for painting and working in partnership with local councils they choose from designs submitted and commission local artists to get to work. We made our mark on the cabinet on High Street, Rangiora and we hope to have a go at more in the future!

Wild In Art

Pop Up Penguin Art Trail

Waddle Waddle!

There have been several Wild In Art trails in New Zealand, a brilliant charity fundraising event. We were increadibly excited to be part of the Pop Up Penguin art trail in Christchurch. Artists from all across the city submitted designs for consideration and those who were chosen by sponsors were commissioned to paint large fibreglass sculptures. It was an amazing experience from start to finish, from collecting our sculptures for painting, meeting other artists participating in the trail, exploring the city to discover painted penguins and attending a nailbiting auction where over one million dollars was raised for charity.

Between us we painted 3 penguins - Birds of a Feather, Ice and Punk It Penguin.

Making It Their Own

Kids bedroom commissions

We have painted several custom murals for some very lucky kids! Some commissions have been the final touch on an exciting new home build, others have been gifted as unique birthday presents. In all cases we have learnt all about what our kid clients love and put it up on the wall in their own personal haven.
